About District 2
District 2 is responsible for servicing all CWA locals in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. There are 76 locals in our district representing more than 35,000 workers in private and public sector employment.
Our diverse membership is employed in a wide variety of industries that include: telecommunications, airline, health care, public service, printing and news media, broadcast and cable television, higher education and law enforcement.
Vice President Catucci has served as Vice President of CWA District 2 since 1986. Under his leadership, we have achieved many accomplishments throughout the district. In the Verizon bargaining unit, he was successful in compressing four wage zones into two. District 2 also pioneered working and mobilizing to negotiate a contract continuing six months beyond expiration to a successful conclusion. We have brought excellent contracts into all our diversified bargaining units, both Private and Public sector. Pete is committed to growing our great union. He continues to expand the CWA Organizing program with tremendous assistance from the Organizing Coordinator, the Representatives and Locals. District 2 presently has four Full-Time Local Organizers. We have brought many new groups into District 2 that have significantly impacted the growth of the district. With a group effort, we have embraced a "bargaining to organize" strategy in all of our units.
Cope has been a success for years with the program not only soliciting funds from our members but, in using the funds to assist elected officials with campaign workers and COPE checks.
