Ron Collins New District 2 Vice President
July 2, 2008

Ron Collins was unanimously elected as the new Vice President of District 2 at the 70th Annual National CWA Convention, succeeding Pete Catucci, who retired after serving as Vice President since 1986.
Ronald D. (Ron) Collins has dedicated his entire career to fighting to advance the rights of workers in telecommunications and other sectors of the economy. He joined CWA in 1981 as a C&P Telephone employee (now Verizon) and was elected shop steward in 1983, the first of many leadership positions he would hold in the union. He was elected chief steward for CWA Local 2101, and in 1992, Collins was elected vice president of the local.
An effective and successful organizer for Local 2101, Collins was appointed CWA District 2 Organizing Coordinator in 1999. Among the organizing victories he helped bring about were campaigns at US Airways, Cingular Wireless (now AT&T Mobility), Hudson General, and the Community College of Baltimore County.
In 2003, Collins was named Administrative Director to the Vice President for CWA District 2. In that position, he led CWA’s bargaining team for the Verizon Potomac unit and has been involved in numerous contract negotiations.
Throughout his lifetime of work on behalf of working families, Collins has carried the CWA story to public forums throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. He has been the recipients of numerous honors and awards, including the CWA President’s Award for Organizing. He is a proud graduate of the National Labor College. A native of Baltimore, Collins currently lives in Washington DC.
